Christmas Every Day January 5th

Fridays used to be fun when I was a kid. You came home from school and it was freedom for at least a few hours. So I thought it would be fun to have a mini Christmas party with the grandkids. They are pretty easy going, and they have learned to put up with most of quirks. Instead of their Mom picking up them up from school it was me.

The oldest one was buckled in the truck and we were getting ready to roll.

“Hey, Trenna. Do you know the secret password?”

I had to think quickly. “Certainly. I know lots of secret passwords. In fact I know a secret phrase, do you?”

The younger one said, “Does phrase mean a bunch of words?”

“Yes”

“Well then our secret phrase is what we say whenever we say goodbye.”

“I meant the one if a stranger comes to pick us up from school.

“For a big brother you don’t  think much. If a stranger comes no matter what he knows we don’t get in a car, truck or van. We run back into the school.”

Then they noticed the wrapped boxes. “Did you forget these at Christmas?”

“Nope, I thought we’d celebrate again.”

The youngest one said “Cool, can we stop at the store on the way home?”

“Okay.”

We went in and  I said “What are we doing?”

“Well if we are celebrating everyone needs a box to open.”

Ahhhh~ the things you learn from children are the greatest gifts.
