On This Day 1891 was born Lajos veins, one of the most read and most popular Hungarian writers of the 20th century. Studies of law had to be interrupted because of the First World War, and their war experiences he described in his novel “The prisoners”. He was also a journalist, editor, playwright, film producer, director … For his first novel ” Spring” (1922) has experienced great popularity. Zilahi works have been translated into many languages, and several of his novels and plays is filmed. For the role of the Czech-American film “Water wears something”, done in his novel, Milena Dravić was awarded “Gold David” as the best European actress. From 1948 he lived in exile, mostly in America. He often visited our country and died in 1974 in Novi Sad.
