He brought Serbia to three seas

Stefan Dušan Nemanjić came to the world around 1308 as the secondborn son of Stefan Dechanski. He brought Serbia on three seas! After the death of his grandfather, King Milutin and the crowning of Father Stefan Uros III (January 6, 1322), Dusan was 14 years old when he was assigned to the Zeta administration and was declared a prince.

Even as a young king, he commanded a part of the army in the main attack in the Battle of Velbuz (1330), in which Serbia won the leading role in the Balkans. Relations between him and his father deteriorated in January 1331. The nobility gathered around Dusan constantly persuaded him to rebel against his father and take power. Dusan attacked his father’s court in August 1331 and He detained him together with his whole family in the fortress Zvecan (Kosovo).

Emperor Dusan had only one child – the son of Urosх who succeeded him, but who failed to save the great state of his father.

He is buried in Prizren, Kosovo. On May 18, 1968, Dusan was transferred to the church of St. Marko in Belgrade. His son had no children.
