I had grown up thinking Jason’s Dad ran away and his mother went back to using her maiden name. It wasn’t a big deal.
Some Dads died, some were away, some Moms died. We didn’t talk about it or even think of it for we were kids interested in kid things.
Everyone in my circle knew Jason. When he left with his mother, everyone missed him. We wondered when he was coming back.
If we asked our parents they said they didn’t think he was coming back.
There were a lot of ideas why, but all I knew is that he was gone, and I hoped he’d come back.
We were little kids, our parents took us where they went.
