My Guiding Principles in Life

“I am a lone but not alone.”

This my battle cry while campaigning for a position in the alumni association  of our high school Alma Mater.

I came up with this statement for I know I have many friends in the said school. In short I have the confidence that I will win the election of the board of directors of the association.

Alas! I didn’t make it. Those candidates who have a party of their won in the electoral race. Since I was an independent candidate my friends had failed me.

Sorry as I was I accepted my defeat. It’s a great lesson I had learned  that I don’t have to rely from friends whose friendship didn’t convert to a strong vote for my position I ran to.

Nevertheless I do still my guiding principle in my life as envisioned by an American author Edward Everett Hale’s great saying about an unconditional service.

What about you? What’s your guiding principles in life?

What do you think?
