When Elsa became pregnant at 48, her husband and grown children thought it was funny. Until it was revealed that the child would be born with Downs Syndrome.
Elsa’s husband and children tried to convince her to terminate, but she refused.
One by one, each child warned Elsa that they would NOT take on the responsibility for the baby. Camille, the eldest, was blunt;
“I have my life, I have my children. There is no space for anyone who will deduct from that. Not now, not ever.”
But Elsa was adamant. She was having the baby.
Phil, Elsa’s husband, tried to convince her to terminate, but she refused. She could watch each of her grown children sell everything and leave the country. Then, Phil joined them.
As she had been told, Elsa would be on her own.
