The Migrant Caravan That's Headed Toward the US Border

The media outside of the United States may or may not be reporting on the caravan of several thousand people who are marching toward the US-Mexico border. If they have reported on it, they probably have various views about it.

The timing of the caravan, just a couple of weeks before the mid-term election, is suspicious, especially considering that the Democrats have been over-all in favor of open borders and have blocked the building of the wall on the border whenever they could. They and the news media have largely been praising the caravan and their apparent goal of flooding the southern border with seven thousand or more illegal aliens.

But will it help or hurt the Democrats in the midterm elections? This might be another case where it might backfire on the Democrats, just as it did when they maliciously attacked Justice Kavanaugh during the confirmation hearings. Although people shouldn’t put a great deal of stock in polls, one poll after another over the last several months have shown that about three-quarters of the US population are concerned and worried about the number of people entering the country illegally and these same voters don’t want open borders, which the Democrats have been pushing.

They have tried hard to ignore the news that over 100 members of ISIS were removed from the caravan in Guatemala already. There is little doubt that not all of them were apprehended. It is also being ignored that the Mexican drug cartels are heavily involved. Mind you, not all of the migrants in the caravan are bad people, but many of them are and it doesn’t take many to cause mayhem.

American citizens, especially those in the border states, are fully aware that a country isn’t a country without borders. Americans as a whole, including the President, are all for legal immigration. President Trump has actually worked to make legal immigration easier. Over a million people immigrate to the US every year, legally. That is more than in any other nation in the world. Seven thousand plus people marching on the US with the intent of entering the country illegally, though, is nothing less than an invasionary group.

Even if news agencies outside of the US aren’t reporting about the caravan, leaders of many nations are paying attention. They know first-hand and just within the past decade what happens when migrants are allowed into a country en masse. Many countries in Europe have had to deal with waves of refugees and the resultant spike in crime rates when they’ve been allowed into their countries.

What should the response be? Well, the president is well within his rights to station the military and national guard units along the border to prevent the people from getting into the US illegally by any and all means necessary. It is quite likely that this will be done. Our sovereignty as a nation is at stake.
