The 7th and last phase of General Election is shduled to be held from 7 AM to 6 PM: Supreme Court

New Delhi: The Supreme Court dismissed the petition filed By the Election Commission of India regarding the schedule of the last and 7th phase of General Election 2019 to be scheduled from 5: 30 AM to 6 PM, Evening.

The reason for the voting in the petition at 5:30 pm instead of seven o’clock as per the Election Commission was due to the month of summer and the holy month of Ramzaan.

The bench of Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice Sanjeev Khanna dismissed the petition saying that the time of polling is scheduled from seven in the evening till 6 PM and voters can vote in the morning also.

Voting on May 19 for the seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections. The bench ordered petitioner advocate Mohammad Nizamuddin Pasha, “The time is from seven in the morning to six in the morning. People can come in the morning to vote. ‘
