Labour Day, Workers Day, May Day: All In One Is International Workers Day – May 1st

A famous International level Professor William J. Adelman claimed this day as the most significant Day and urged once in the past  in his own words .

He urged,” No single event has influenced the history of labor in Illinois, the United States, and even the world, more than the Chicago Haymarket Affair. It began with a rally on May 4, 1886, but the consequences are still being felt today. Although the rally is included in American history textbooks, very few present the event accurately or point out its significance”.

In different names and forms this particular day of 1st May is some where celebrated as Labour Day, some where also celebrated as Workers day along with some other part of this world this day is celebrated as International Workers day but for the sake  one destination , i.e. for the welfare, prosperity, unity and brotherhood among all the labourers and working class people doing the job of daily waged labour or worker across the Globe.

When the United Nations realizing the importance of the day  tagged this particular Day as the day of freedom and liberty of labourers , this turned Globally than  as the International Workers day.

This day of 1st May is celebrated officially by all the nation across the globe every year to promote the need of International labour Movement.

In Many European Countries, 1st May also was celebrated as Spring Day much before in Ancient Period.

In the Ancient Northern Hemisphere , traditionally it was observed with love, brotherhood and happiness naming it as the Spring Day Festival.Traditionally people in Northern Hemisphere in that ancient period were celebrated by singing , dancing and amusing traditionally.

But  Ahead of this, with the course of time, in 19th century socialists and communists remarked the Day as the day to celebrate in the name of the  most humiliated  and down trodden section of people who in passion not fear  pour their sweat and blood into their hard works to make this world more beautiful and economically strong.

In 1886Tuesday, May 4, a peaceful protest was going on by labourers and workers who were demanding for not working more than  8 hour daily  at Hay market of  Chikago. It was in reaction of the previous Day’s action of killing workers  by the  police. During this protest a Dynamite Bomb was thrown at Police which consequently took seven Cop’s instant death at site and many workers also were injured  with four civilians instant death. For which many also term it different names as Haymarket Massacre, Haymarket Riots or the Haymarket Affairs.

This blast and massacre installed  a landmark for the sake of interest of labour class people for their safety, security, socio-economic Development along with their absolute liberty and further internationally many international concerned agencies and communities all together started a global debate and discussion to restore the world wide anger  & agony of labourers and workers across the World.

The  Haymarket Affairs did ignite revolutionary protests every where in the world demanding the 1st May as the official day to observe and celebrate as the Labours Day or Workers day with the implementation of Eight Hour-Day.

In the year 1904 sixth conference of the second International approached all social democratic organizations and trade unions across globe from all most all the countries in demand of initiation of 1st May as the lawful establishment of Eight Hour –Daily job time for workers and labourers.

Then the 1st May internationally acclaimed as the Eight –Hour Day  to remember the Haymarket Affairs which truly the hallmark of worker’s right and liberty internationally.
