The Delaware Saengerbund celebrates Oktoberfest every year in the U.S. state of Delaware. The original festival was begun in Germany in Bavaria in 1810. In the month of October that year King Ludwig I married Princess Theresia.
The public was invited to the wedding and soon this celebration became an annual event. It also spread outside of Germany and today Oktoberfests are held in many places all around the world.

At the Delaware Oktoberfest in the social club Delaware Saengerbund, there is much singing and rejoicing, The club was established in the mid-1800s for German immigrants who came to America. In this way the could share their culture and get together with other German-Americans.This Oktoberfest is held in September with three days of German singing, dancing, music, and eating.
