A wonderful Christmas song was written by Scottish writer Jamies Montgomery in 1816. The lyrics to “Angels From the Realms of Glory” was one of the 400 hymns Montgomery had written. This carol has several popular melodies including Regent Square by Henry Smart.
The song is also sung to the French carol tune that is known as Iris and christened after Montgomery’s newspaper The Sheffield Iris. This tune also appears under the name Gloria.
