Paul Mollusk, part of the ‘family’, knew how to play them. He was sure not one of the Board Members would get off his butt to take a look at Miriam House.
Most hadn’t been there for years.
If there was one person on the Board who was competent or active, Mollusk knew he would never have gotten away with his scam. But if he hadn’t been ‘The President’ if he wasn’t ‘in charge’, if he had been an average member of the Board, he would not have gone to Miriam House to check the necessity for the repairs.
And he was right.
The Board passed the expenditure for the ‘urgent’ repairs without the slightest verification.
