Why Protective Eyewear Is Your Friend During Winters

Winters are often harsh & can take a toll on your eyes. Dry eyes & irritation isn’t uncommon during cold weather. Hence, wearing protective eyewear is key to keeping delicate organs as eyes from any harms that can induce some sort of permanent damage. Why not take protective measures before it’s too late? More so, you can take a certain set of actions that will help maintain eye health especially when the weather is really frosty. Here are some of the common conditions that can be protected against by wearing eye protection.

Problems Caused By Dry Eyes

There’s nothing more discomforting than your eyes not being able to produce the fluid they need. Although this can also happen because of aging, dry weather is a major source of concern for this condition. Moreover, it is also caused by people who have turned up the heat in their homes. This causes the humidity levels to deplete thus causing our eyes to dry. Common symptoms of dry eyes include itchiness, stinging or burning sensation that can make it really difficult for you to see or focus on anything. However, there’s no need to worry as there are some solutions to the problem of dry eyes.

Avoid Wearing Contacts

If you’re someone who wears contact lenses, it’s time to finally ditch them. Wearing protective glasses instead will ensure that your eyes sustain enough liquid. Moreover, you can also try drinking lots of water throughout the day, especially at work if you’re working in hot or very humid conditions that can cause your body to dehydrate throughout the day. Adding artificial drops is another good way to maintain moisture in your eyes.

Preventing UV Exposure

When you step out in winters, your eyes are exposed to UV rays which can be only blocked by wearing polycarbonate lenses that come with branded protective eyeglasses. It’s one of the only materials for lenses that work with 100% effectiveness. Don’t think that the problem of glare dissipates when winter comes. For instance, if you’re enjoying yourself out in the snow, not wearing sunglasses or any other safety eyeglasses can cause ‘snow-blindness’ that is caused by sunlight reflecting off of a flat object as the snow. Thus, wearing eye protection – be it in the form of sunglasses or any other protective eyewear – is a must.

Seeing Better While Driving

You may have come across the problem of the sun setting a little lower on the sky, as it is common during winters. This makes your eye pupils become smaller to be able to better focus on the road ahead. To counter this, you can try wearing sunglasses where applicable. Conversely, when driving in medium to low lights, you can wear glasses that come with an anti-reflective coating to let you be able to see better. The very coating allows a greater amount of light to enter through the lenses that help you see better. In essence, wearing tinted lenses & add-ons will add a lot more value to your optical experience.
