Loetz Glass in the Museum of Fine Arts

Inside the dark glass exhibits of the Museum of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg, Florida we found this very nice glowing green Loetz Witwe Company vase from 1900. It was in green glass with silver plated mounts. The Loetz Witwe Company operated from 1840-1947 in Czechoslovakia but originally started in Austria. This piece shows the height of art nouveau design with the metal, glass and flowing lines. Loetz was awarded 1st place in 1889 at the Paris Exhibition the same exhibition the Eiffel Tower was built for.
