Hatert Meres (Hatertse Vennen) 02 (2013)
The Hatert Meres (Hatertse Vennen) are situated close to where I was born. Crowded with marshes, pines and sand dunes it is a place of wonder. I made a series out of these of which some are in China, the U.S. and the Netherlands right now. This is one of the pastels I liked to do back in 2013 when I was still practising my hached strokes style which I previously employed to nudes. I always have liked water reflections because they are so rewarding in recognizing water. The strong complementary colour mix orange / blue did the rest.
