Daniel de Monfreid at the Museum of Fine Arts

Here at the St Pete Museum of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg, Florida there was a painting by Daniel de Monfreid (French 1856-1929) of Paul Gauguin. Monfreid and Gauguin had long been friends and went to the same art school in France. Monfreid uses a background that Gauguin was famous for and copied Paul Gauguin’s signature in the corner of the painting as a tribute.
