Old Mill at Cades Cove

This really was a remarkable place that made you feel like you were back in time in the late 1800’s. We stopped in the village at Cades Cove Loop Road in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Here you can walk or ride your bicycle on the 11 mile loop road and stop and see all the churches, farms, barns, houses and even working mills. This mill is original and kept in working shape with a sluice to an overshot wheel. I loved the wooden raised walkway to the mill and the clapboard sided building with the wood shingle roof with typical overreaching ridge of shingles.
