Upside Down Bridge of Lockport

After coming out of the hidden hydraulic tunnels of Lockport, New York you are back in the bright sunlight. There we walked along the sides of the old Erie Canal just below the locks.  Here was a strange bridge that to me appeared to be built upside down to how they are normally made. I suppose it works equally well either way.
