Today, when I walked to my mailbox to get my mail, I noticed a small green cloth maple leaf. I consider it as a sign for today. So, I decided to pick it up in order to research its symbolism. The obvious is it’s the logo for Canada. I continued to browse other symbolic meanings for the maple leaf.
It is often used as a love symbol. Since maple trees produce a rich and sweet sap, which is used to make maple syrup, this sweetness is equated with the sweetness of love.
Moreover, a maple tree was believed to repel demons and evil spirits, and people often placed a piece of a maple tree in the main door area. The maple leaf also symbolizes unity, tolerance, and peace.
Furthermore, green leaves symbolize hope, renewal, and revival as well as fertility and growth.
