Oliver's Odyssey – 74

Life was so different for Wendy.  She felt comfortable and safe.  There was always a police officer to take her to Professional School and one to pick her up.

She had no delusions about Oliver, she had known him long enough to appreciate he was a cruel violent beast.

Oh, a coward when confronting someone his own size, but when it came to her, to her children, Oliver had no restraint.

What pleased Wendy the most was how lively and happy her children were.  How they loved to go places, to be with her and whomever was her companion.

Frightened mice of children who were afraid to flush a toilet at night, or turn on a television, were bubbling with excitement and joy.

Joy, because their abusive animal of a father was out of their lives.
