We are walking the long and ever-changing Boreal Life Trail at Paul Smith’s College Visitor Interpretive Center (VIC) in the Adirondacks of New York state. Down on the wooden boardwalk that skirts the sphagnum moss marsh we find lots of wild flowering plant life. The most colorful and plentiful are the wild orchids in pink and purple. They are incredibly small with this flower being only 1/4″ across.
Orchids were once wild and brought in. If one visits forests one will find orchids that have yet to be brought in.
