On one of the Tours down deep in Mammoth Cave in Kentucky you go down 350 feet or more and all on stairs and stone ramps. But how do you get back out? On one nice tour there is a tall tower at the end of the tunnel that goes up super high. It is like a huge, tall fire tower that is underground and takes you from the depths of the cave back up to the top. No, there is no elevator, just lots of steps. You can stop along the way and take in views of stalagmites and stalactites. One large bank of them was called “Frozen Niagara” and looked just like frozen water. There was very little light down there with no tripods allowed and no flash.
A must-see place to explore.
