At the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) annual meet at Paul Smith’s College in the Adirondacks of New York state we are looking at some of the classic canoes out on the “Green” or major field overlooking Lower Saint Regis Lake. Here was a beautiful green canoe with the large banner of “Abercrombie and Fitch Co.” on the side. So they didn’t just make jeans? Abercrombie and Fitch carried many outdoor products in their main store in New York City. This canoe was a B.N. Morris from 1909, 13 foot model sold through Abercrombie and Fitch as “Mastigauche”according to the plaque on the canoe.
Wow, who knew, right? Beautiful wood too! That’s fine craftmanship.
