SpaceX Falcon 9 launch today in Southern California

The first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket returned to the California military cosmodrome “Vandenberg” for the first time. The broadcast was conducted on the site Spaceflight Now .

During previous launches, the first stage descended on radio-controlled platforms in the Pacific Ocean or at a spaceport at Cape Canaveral in Florida.

The launch of the rocket took place at 22:21 EDT (5:21 Moscow time) on Sunday. Nine minutes later, the first stage successfully made the planned landing on the Zona-4 platform of the US Air Force base. Later, the rocket delivered the Argentine radar satellite SAOCOM 1A to orbit.

This time, SpaceX used the latest first stage of the Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket. According to the developers, it is more powerful than its predecessor and allows it to prepare the first stage for a restart in a shorter time.
