Finding a Switch Plate For Any Style Room

Trying to achieve a certain style in a room can be difficult. Everything in the room has to work together to make the style work. This means every single object in the room, down to the smallest items, has to be carefully selected. Switch plate covers are no exception. The covers you choose will have an impact on the look of the room as a whole.

Traditional

A traditional style room is the easiest to pick a switch plate for. Your best bet is probably white. The baseboards and doorways of the room will probably have white trim. The walls themselves might even be white if you’re going for a simple traditional look. The presence of white elsewhere in the room will make the cover fit in perfectly.

Rustic

If you’re choosing switch plate covers for a room with a more rustic style, you’ll want to match the cover to any wood in the room. If the walls have wood paneling, match the covers to the paneling. If the walls aren’t wood, match the covers to a piece of wood furniture, like a mantelpiece or bookshelf. Wood patterns always help achieve a rustic look.

Modern

With modern designs, you have a lot of freedom. You can choose any color you want as long as something else in the room matches. If you want to be more subtle, use the color of the walls. Or, you can be bold and choose an accent color. This bold move will also help scatter the accent color in various parts of the room. It may be called an accent color, but it shouldn’t be concentrated in one spot like someone splattered paint there.

Quirky

Quirky rooms are where you have the most freedom. You can do whatever you want. Use a color that doesn’t appear anywhere else in the room. Pick a cover that has a pattern. Pick switch plate covers that don’t match with each other and put them in the same room. Give the room something unique about it. That’s the whole point of quirky designs.

There are so many different ways to design a room. And, there are so many ways to achieve a certain look. But, to do so, you need every piece in a room working together and looking good. This is a no-brainer for big pieces like couches and tables. But, you also need to remember to carefully choose smaller details, like switch plate covers.
