From my twisted, aching heart
there grew a window-
the sun winked and glistened
through slow distorted clouds.
With all we have endured,
All we thought we knew,
There came a parting-
Severance of bone,
From sinew.
I bled more tears
than a soul should shed,
Vanquished armies all in my head.
I banished the logic
Begging you to stay-
I’m basking in sunlight’s
warmth on my face.
