The Neal Preserve in Bradenton, Florida had ancient Indian or Native American shell mounds. These were vast accumulations of shells, bones and even burials from Florida’s earliest civilized days. Nearby there was even an ancient Native American cemetary. Here you find a plaque explaining early times:
