Leiden – 27-12-16
Some time ago I returned to Leiden at Zuid-Holland, Netherlands, where I studied and lived for 10 years. I walked down the Nieuwe Rijn where so many of my footsteps lay and I decided to do a rather realistic drawing of the water in the canals of Leiden. There are so many of them and I always find water and reflections very rewarding. I tried to keep the people on the terraces and streets as vague as possible, only rendering them impressionistically. The result is a graphite pencil drawing that lays between impressionism and realism. It’s a side-step outside cubism and roundism.
Graphite pencil drawing (Pentel 0.5 mm, 3B) on Canson Bristol paper (21 x 29.7 x 0.01 cm) – A4 format)
Artist: Corné Akkers
This artwork is very good. I really liked it.
