After that, he hauled the big family in a ramshackle
small van for cattle transport; all bumpkins
stood in the van and van jumped, bumped, moved
right and left mostly through dusty forest roads.
Dust flew all over and entered ears, nose mouth
and stuck on hairs of bumpkins as they cursed
the time they had boarded the vehicle.
When they stepped down at the site they looked rather
white and ghost as dust worked like talcum powder
and more. Nattu would walk them to a nearby drain
where on shore there was a patch of green.
And for the waterfall, he showed them a two feet tall
rock from over which the drain was fed with water et al(algae & fungi). Nattu would tell them that this is the
scenic spot and enjoy
it as much as you can. He would snatch Rs.200 per head
and then vanish. The family of 10 would have to come back
and Nattu’s brother in law would pose as a cab drives
and shave the heads of the bumpkins,
of whatever little they had left,
as they returned back.
Some irate villagers especially snapped Nattu
to warn their fellow villagers not to fall into his trap
when they visited Kaziranga after that!
