Arsene Wenger’s Departure Has Really Not Changed Arsenal’s Fortunes

When Arsenal parted ways with Arsene Wenger, Arsenal fans hoped for better days.  The Unai Emery revolution started well but it has now come unstuck. Their ability to compete with best teams has been again called into question. They were butchered 5-1 by Liverpool in December 2019 and recently lost 3-1 to Manchester City. This is in addition to being knocked of the FA cup by Manchester United.

They currently lie sixth on the EPL table. So in the final analysis, the departure of Wenger has not changed the fortunes of Arsenal. Some of the fans are directing their anger towards Stan Kroenke, the owner of the club. They are frustrated with the perennial lack of activity during transfer periods. It is difficult to see how the situation at the club can change when the owners are not making funds available for the acquisition of quality players. The news filtering in at the moment is that Unai Emery will only have £40million to spend in the summer.  Arsenal cannot achieve different results if they continue to do things the same way.  There is real possibility that the club will once again fail to qualify for Champions League next season.

What frustrates the fans even more is Kroenke’s silence. He rarely speaks about the club or spell out his future plans. They feel that he is so business minded and success on the pitch does not matter for him. He just does not feel the fans’ pain.
