They built the foundation of the faith-Emperor Constantine and empress Helen

The Orthodox Church today celebrates the Holy Emperor Constantine (February 27, 272-May 22, 337), and Emperor Helen, the Roman ruler. Emperor Constantine gave Christian freedom to religion, with the decree of 313, ended the persecution and thus became one of the greatest Christian saints. Constantine later became a Christian himself. He was baptized in the Jordan River before his death.

Saint Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine, was a great Christian and benefactor. She is believed to have just found the Holy Cross. She built the Church of the Resurrection on Golgotha and many other churches in the Holy Land. This holy woman died in 327, and Emperor Constantine survived ten years after his mother.

Constantine’s immortality, however, is the foundation of the Constantinople. This “New Rome”, founded in 324 on Bosphorus. He still exists today, although he has changed many times and the name and ruler is still magnificent – it is, of course, Istanbul.

Since Constantine was born in Nish (eastern Serbia), this city has a celebration in his honor each year. After his death, the body was transferred to Constantinople and buried according to his wishes in the Church of the Holy Apostles in Constantinople.
