The heart of the Saint Augustine Lighthouse in Florida is its Fresnel Lens and light. This older technology was beautiful with its curved glass prisms held in special brass encircling the central light to amplify it and direct it out to sea. Many of these lenses have been preserved from lighthouses all over and can be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to millions of dollars. Below the heavy Fresnel Lens is a geared and ball bearing apparatus that rotates the lamp and lens.
