1. Eight out of 14 in this quiz about the states.

2. I’m curious about people from Illinois being called Egyptians. I’ve lived there for more than 50 years and have never heard that. There is a town in southern Illinois called Cairo but it is not pronounced like the city in Egypt. It’s pronounced Cay’-row.

4. I got 8 correct….I never heard of Idahoans as fortune seekers (I’m from Idaho).

   • Well, I’m relying entirely on Wikipedia here, as you can imagine! I just took another look, and it refers to http://www.netstate.com/states/intro/id_intro.htm where I read, “In the days of the gold rush, Idahoans were sometimes referred to as “Fortune Seekers” because of the number of people who went to Idaho to find wealth in gold and silver mining.” So I guess this one is historical. If I’d known that I wouldn’t have included it, or I’d have said something about using historical terms in the intro. I’ll be more careful next time 🙂

     • No worries, I just hadn’t heard of that (although I might have back in elementary school when I learned Idaho History…but that was over 20 years ago lol). It makes sense with the mining….I just figured we’d be known more for something to do with potatoes haha!
