    • I just made that one up out of thin air. He didn’t have any patents. When I was making the quiz I was watching a documentary on the actress Hedy Lamarr. Bedsides being gorgeous she was a genius. She developed a technology that allowed communication between our troops and headquarters during World War II which could not be intercepted by the enemy. It also forms the basis for WiFi and Bluetooth although they were developed long after she died. That gave me the idea for the patent question.

        • There are a lot more people in the entertainment field who have IQs in the genius range. The actor who played Hiro in the TV series “Heroes” has an IQ around 180. The woman who played Phoebe in “Friends” is up near there also. Brian May, the guitarist for the band Queen has a PhD is astrophysics.

          • The first two names are unknown to me (I haven’t seen a minute of either of the series you mention) but I did know about Brian May – he sometimes appears on science programmes on the BBC.

    • I’m not so sure. He seems more flash than substance to me. He did do a great job with the Cuban Missile Crisis but he blew it with the Bay of Pigs and was unable to get civil rights legislation passed. He made Americ feel good but that all changed with Johnson.

      • There are still many questions over Kennedy’s role in the Missile Crisis. For one thing, did it only occur because of the Bays of Pigs fiasco the previous year, which was entirely Kennedy’s fault? There is also evidence to suggest that both Kennedy and Kruschev saw sense at roughly the same time and so must both take credit for its resolution.

This is similar to American insistence that the fall of the Berlin Wall was all down to Ronald Reagan, whereas the truth is that Gorbachev deserves just as much credit, if not more.

    • I suspect a lot of people became very disillusioned by the Kennedy assassination. As a president I don’t think he was that great with the exception of his handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis but Americans were a lot more hopeful then than they have been since his assassination.

      • Exactly- it was a high water point where most Americans really did ask what they could do for their country… They wouldn’t have tolerated the bullshit politicians pull these days

      • I think you`re right – he made many mistakes as President, especially as regards Vietnam. If he had lived longer, one suspects that things would have unraveled. These days his private life would have been much less private, but – given what is known about the current holder of that office – one wonders if it would have made the slightest difference to his popularity.

        • Actually Trump and even Bill Clinton have nothing on LBJ. He was the most revolting man to ever hold the office. A female TV reporter once asked him a follow-up question he didn’t appreciate and he responded by exposing himself. When he held meetings, he would often get up and go to the washroom and force the others to watch him masturbate. Class act, huh?

    • Thanks, Carol. That’s something they don’t talk about in history class. The funny thing about it was that JFK’s sister set them up and was also the one who discovered her past when she found a photo of her sitting with Hitler at the 1936 Olympic games.
