Stereotyping can make us think we know more about a topic than we do. When it comes to the homeless population it could be easy to say they are all the same, but the truth is, that is not so.

How we think about them determines how we respond to them. Our thinking needs to be clear, not colored by a rosy tint nor tinged with a hateful hue. Knowledge is the key to getting a balanced perspective on this segment of society.

Balance is key to safety if we want to reach out to these needy people as well as key to being most effective in helping them if we do reach out to them. FInding out what we don’t know is the first step to knowing what we need to know.
