The cats are mysterious creatures who are best on their own. They sometimes tend to like to be around the humans, but in an every other case when they don’t really need us – like food, attention, and shelter – they are better left alone.
Cats are all obligatory carnivores and they are the happiest when they can chase something. They have been kept for the pets for thousands of years, but still are not fully domesticated.
Let’s check how much of a cat universe is known to you.

6/8
interesting quiz!
I learned something new here.
Three out of eight. But I enjoyed this quiz about cats.
5/8
Only 2 correct! Definitely not a cat person
6/8 … great quiz
got 5 out of 8 right!
Interesting cacophony. I thought I knew more about cats. The result showed otherwise You got 5 out of 8 right!
7/8 The first answer surprised me. Awesome quiz!
You got 6 out of 8 right!
Great
I got 8/8 I know cats! Fun quiz, love that photo with this.
8 out of 8. I didn’t think I knew this much about cats.
4 right. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen cats climb head first down trees though. Also, my cat had favourite foods for sure. Had fun wih your quiz though, thanks 🙂
4 out of 8
6/8 – our cat definitely has favourite foods! As for chasing, ours has never chased anything. The local birds carry on feeding only a few yards away from him, because they know that they’re perfectly safe!
That’s surprising! Ours chases anything, even a random cotton bud or a piece of foil, haha. The first question surprised me too.
Their natural instinct is to chase, and our `Edwy` did the kitten things that you describe. However, we always dissuaded him from chasing birds and he learned his lesson.
Congratulations on being the first quiz approved in four days 🙂
I got 5/8. Can you explain #3 “Cat can climb down a tree head down.”?
Are you saying they climb down backwards – tail first? Well my cat comes down head first, every time.
I wondered if he meant that they can/can’t climb up backwards!
Yes – there has been a delay in posting over the weekend. We’ve just had a bank holiday in the UK – maybe the same applies in Estonia!
That’s a possible explanation (Bank Holiday).
On the other question, I’m really struggling to see how “climb down” could mean “climb up” 🙂
True – point taken! In the days when our cat used to climb trees – he’s much too arthritic these days – he always came down head first, usually jumping from a point where he felt it was safe to do so, or if gravity simply took over! Mind you, his usual tactic was to miaow piteously until somebody rescued him if they happened to be handy!
Oh your cat is such a pussy! 😉 My observation is identical, except for the piteous meowing for rescue!
Only one breed of cat can do this and its not a domestic. Cats cannot climb down a tree, but rather go a few feet, then swing, then a few feet. It is physically impossible to do due to the shape of their claws.
I’m not quite grasping the distinction, Kim. Not sure what you mean by ‘swing’, nor how ‘going down a few feet’ doesn’t equate to climbing down.
They cannot physically climb down head first.
That’s why they get stuck in trees. They cannot climb down. Some will back down, or do the swing method. Here is a video of that method. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zMEDpEGPok
That’s very interesting. I must watch my Catskidoodles more closely!
Awe, what a cute name. lol I like it. Cats hind legs are built for jumping and climbing while their front legs are much weaker used for grasping prey. The hind legs enable them to climb up but the front legs are much weaker and the claws are facing the wrong way to climb head down. Also cats in the wild do not have a favorite food, but our furry friends sure do.
got 5 out of 8 right!
