Learning About the U.S. State of Delaware

Delaware is often referred to as the First State or the Diamond State. Its official nickname The First State was given because Delaware was the first of the 13 original states to ratify the U.S. Constitution. It is a small state with lovely dune-backed beaches bordering the Atlantic Ocean, the Delaware River, and Delaware Bay. The state’s motto is “Liberty and Independence”. The name of the state came from the original governor of Virginia, Thomas West, Lord De La Warr. The state is known for its chemical research. The state capital is Dover.

    • Great score Norman. Well, my idea is to inform about each state and to offer the clues for those who are very alert and see how much they remember as they do the quiz. Since I have so many more state quizzes to do perhaps when least expected I’ll figure out how to inform about a state without leaving too many clues and see how that works just for fun. But not yet.
