Arkansas was the 25th state to join the Union. It became known as the land of opportunity and is also known for its natural scenic beauty. The state borders Louisiana to the south, Texas to the southwest, Oklahoma to the west, Missouri to the north, and Tennessee and Mississippi to the east.
