Learning About the State of Massachusetts

Another of the six New England States Massachusetts is known as the Old Colony State. The state was number six to join the Union. It is bordered by Vermont and New Hampshire to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the east and southeast, by Rhode Island and Connecticut to the south, and by New York to the west.  In 1620 the Pilgrims established their settlement at Plymouth. The state is the birthplace of many of the ideals of the American Revolution.
