Luke was one of four evangelists, men who wrote the gospels which bear their names. There are a lot of similarities between his gospel and the others but there are also a lot of differences. Luke was a physician by profession. He converted to Christianity after Jesus ascended into Heaven so he is not writing from firsthand experience. How much do you know about him and his gospel?

5/10. Were the gospels written by the men whose names they bear? This has been called into question.
There’s lots of evidence that the gospels, in fact, all of the books of the New Testament, were written by the people whose names are on them. Hebrews is one exception because it contains no attributions. Decent cases can be made for a few possible authors.
Keep in mind that the skeptics have a very weak case. The Jesus Seminar set out to purge the gospels of anything they didn’t like. If any one of the participants said he didn’t think Jesus would say or do what was in the passage, the passage was purged without further discussion. Not very scholarly, IMO.
I don’t think it’s an open and shut case – there are arguments on all sides about attribution, and no doubt the debates will continue.
