Your Standards ~ Little Things #8

Continuing with my Little Things series. Because I am running out of things to talk about.

I hear crickets at the site these days.

Set Your Standards High

First things first. You may be wondering, what are personal standards? Well, think of them as the set of behaviours, beliefs or values that you have decided to live by. Standards govern how you live your life, what people learn to expect from you, and what you’re willing to put up with.

So what behaviours, beliefs and values determine your daily habits and routine? What identity or story about yourself have you created in the minds of others? What are you putting up with or tolerating in your life? Answering those questions determine your current personal standards.

If you want to change your life, you have to raise your standards. ~ Tony Robbins

Draw a line…then live above it. The negatives you encounter fall below the line…doubt, fear, resignation and defeat.  Joy, gratefulness, faith, belief and trust rise above it. Strive to live above it. ~Carole Chalmers

  • Setting our standards high can give us a better quality of life, agreed?

    • Yes
    • No

  1. If someone sets too high standards that are hard to reach, they may have difficulty adapting to the changes in life. In this case the person engages in continuous efforts to achieve these standards, regardless of the consequences. He forgets to enjoy life.

    • I wasn’t saying set your standards too high, we all should know our limits and only saying to set them at your goal, your preference. I always am supporting enjoying life.
Negative and drama goes below, I set standards above that type of behavior.

  2. Right now I am going through something that makes me think one of my writing clients is setting his standard too high. I wrote 5 product reviews for him and right now he is having me redo the introductions to them all and it seems that he keeps saying change this or that and it is dragging on so much that soon I am going to be ready to say keep your money I don’t need it that much and yet, I do.
