Out in the Great Salt Lake, there is a place called Antelope Island. John C. Fremont and Kit Carson made the first known Anglo exploration of Antelope Island in 1845. The Island was named after the explorers observed several pronghorn antelope grazing on the rangel ands. Or at least that is how the story goes. It’s a little unclear how the antelope got there. But that is another story.
The bison are there because it a park attraction. There are signs and warnings everywhere you look and still people try and cozy up to the bison to get a picture. A fully grown male bison weighs somewhere around the 2000 pound mark. A fully grown female is a mere 1,100 pounds. To me just that much knowledge should give people the common sense needed to stay away. It doesn’t .
