Would you wash your hair with coke?

It was enough for model and actress Suki Waterhouse, the ex-girlfriend of Bradley Cooper, to say that she was washing her hair with Coke for the practice to go viral on the Internet.

Coke contains phosphoric acid that is supposed to brighten hair. In addition, this soda has a low ph, so it is acidic, and acidic ph has the result in hair to seal cuticles and shine. Since it has a large amount of sugar, it would also supposedly bring shine and softness, since sugar is a natural humectant.

There are two different ways to use coke on your hair:

1- When Coca-Cola is applied after shampooing, taking a break and being rinsed and only after drying, the hair becomes soft, loose and shiny.

2- Already when it is allowed to dry with coca in the hair, the effect is messy, more wavy, more textured with a modern and stripped finish.

However, Coke is not and should not be used as a beauty product. There is nothing proven, no studies. We do not know precisely the harm it does, especially because of the number of dyes. Therefore, it is best to be careful and use known products for these purposes. As far as I am concerned I think I won’t try this.

  1. There are so many experiments online to prove that coke eats into bones and acts as a great toilet cleaner. Nope, I wouldn’t use it on my hair, I don’t drink it either.
