World Cuisine : When There is No Ketchup!

In many American homes and in many American restaurants you can always find ketchup!  It’s a condiment that people use for breakfast, lunch or dinner.  Some people use it as a cooking ingredient for certain recipes.  But what about other parts of the world?  What might one easily find in the refrigerator, in the pantry, on the table, or in a restaurant in the Middle East or Asia?  What should one expect to be served as a replacement for ketchup?  I wonder.

  1. for the homemade versus store-bought – great question by the way. I really like some things homemade, and some things store bought.

    So I answered store,
    but I meant both!

        • I realize that. But I’m surrounded by other people who enjoy homemade foods. Some of the sisters from the church love making homemade stuff and they make so much they have to give it away. I got some homemade spaghetti sauce and jams. Some have gardens and they grow stuff then they have to make stuff with it! Tomatoes. Strawberries. They can’t eat it all so they give away what they make.
