Women’s March 1/20/2018

I really didn’t know much about the Women’s march. The first one that I saw seemed very violent and vulgar. I quickly moved on and thought it was probably not something that would interest me. 

My husband asked me about it today so I decided to see what I could learn. They have their entire agenda on line and stated very clearly. I would be quite surprised if every woman who participated had read the same pages I did. It’s 71 pages long.  They are sure marching for a lot of things. How many women do you think read it.  There were some things that caught me by surprise. 

This was their first policy.

“• The Medicare for All Program will provide all individuals residing in the United States and U.S. territories with free healthcare. That includes all necessary medical care, such as primary care and prevention, inpatient care, dietary and nutritional therapies, prescription drugs, emergency care, long-term care, mental health services, all reproductive health services, including abortion,dental services and vision care.”

Here is my issue with this statement. There is no such thing as free. Someone has to pay. Money does not grow on trees and although you can print as much as you like it loses all value. Someone pays for it, period. I have insurance and after insurance one of the drugs that keeps a family member alive is over $5,000.00 a month. I know someone is making a profit. I know what I have to do to keep him alive. I know that nothing is free.

What does dietary and nutritional therapies include? Are we teaching people how to cook and send them to mental therapy and/ or physical therapy? Who gets to decide? 

I have not even made it to page four and I am feeling confused and bankrupt.

  1. The people who are demanding free healthcare for all are clueless. They say they will pay for it by taxing the rich but you could confiscate every penny from all of the rich and it wouldn’t even begin to pay even a small fraction of the cost.
