Window air conditioners are those which can be easily attached to the window in the room. They are a single functional unit which is easy to install. They are comparatively cheap and offer good cooling. The only drawback is the sound they emit while working.
Split air conditioners are the new version air conditioners. They are a two unit system. One is installed inside the room while the other is kept outside. The best part is that they render effective and sound free cooling. The drawback is that they are expensive and installation is a bit tough.

It seems that both have pros and cons. I am personally not a big fan of airconditioners in general, but your article is very informative to me.
We have both window for the bedroom and split for the living room.
I like the split only because they work silently
