I present a bonfire in the challenge of Theme of the Month. I took a picture at a sports park where they do bonfires every year. Have you ever wondered why every year on the evening before the first May light a pile of wood and hang out with him? The bonfires have been passed down to modern times from tradition. This custom was taken over by labor movements around 1890. The burning of bonfires made workers aware of their rights and continues to do so today. But it has also another meaning. According to all the researches so far, bonfire goes back a long way in history, that is, to periods when people understood the birth and waning power of the sun every year. The spring lights are supposed to help him, to warm up and shine with full force as soon as possible.

I have heard of bonfires but we don’t have them in our country
Each country has its own traditions. The bonfires are very interesting to me.
Never knew bonfires were used as a tool to let workers to know about their rights.
It’s a very old tradition. It is still celebrated in our country today
Bonfires are beautiful. There are many traditions attached to them
I agree with you. I really love these traditions.
This was unknown to me, the only time I have had bonfires was as a child for Guy Fawkes on Nov 5th, but people just enjoy watching fireworks and bonfires. Summer on it’s way and often have B-BQues,,,
We have the right event with a cultural and entertainment program.
Warm up the sun !! I love bonfires though.
Thank you. I love bonfire so I am attending this event
I read about this in the Golden Bough
Then you know this information
many cultures have this tradition- and they couldn’t have learned it from eachother…
I know this custom … but I didn’t know where and why this tradition was….great picture, dear Vidocka
Thank you, Lado. You’ve learned something new.
I always find out something new in your posts, dear Vidocka
It is also my intention to find out something new
Thanks for your kindness, dear Vida
I remember having these bonfires in school at pep rallies, school get together’s on Friday evenings.
These are very fond memories. We didn’t have that tradition
Sounds like a great tradition I have never heard of. Thanks for sharing part of your culture. We do have bonfires or used to anyway before burn bans got so prevalent.
Thank you, Kim. This tradition is a lot of fun and I attend it every year.
What once was preparation for the next planting season (bonfires) takes on a new meaning (labor rights). That is an interesting reality!
Love bonfires!
I agree, Doc. Traditions are changing too.
I think you’ve hit upon one of the issues that is making it harder in the world today. Change is good, but change is also bad.
Great explanation there. We do have bonfires on various occasions.
We also have some more bonfire opportunities
