Black Friday is every fourth Friday of the month of November, the day after the Thanksgiving Day of the United States.
But, how did Black Friday come from? There are several theories.
According to one theory, which is also called a black ink theory, traders spent most of the year losing money, and then earned their profits exclusively during the holiday season that would begin immediately after Thanksgiving. Traders, therefore, symbolically used in the accounting records, which were printed manually, used the red ink for the period in which they operated with the minus, and the black ink for the holiday part of the year that made them profit. According to this theory, Black Friday is the day that marked a major entry into the year that brought profits to traders.
According to another, the term Black Friday appeared as early as the 1950s. Many workers were absent from work one day after Thanksgiving for alleged or actual illness, so employers called that day Black Friday. In fact, they wanted to merge the holiday (Thursday) with the rest of the weekend.
The third theory, however, states that it was black-handedly called by the employees themselves, because it’s a hard and long day for traders who must do the innumerable customers who just choose to make up for shopping by spending the day before Thanksgiving at home with their families. Namely, it is considered the beginning of the Christmas shopping season in this country since 1952.
At the same time, the same concept was used by the US police to describe the traffic jams that were created by pedestrians and vehicles after Thanksgiving, when the Christmas shopping season began.
Despite constant efforts to control the crowd by customers, less injuries on Black Friday are the usual thing, at least when it comes to America. Usually they arise as a result of pushing and jumping around the same item or by the smoky stampede shopping mall that rushes towards the entrance or towards the same shelf with the desired products. So that could also be the reason why that day is called Black Friday.

Thank you for reading and commenting my post!
Great share, I will be promoting this in my blog
Thank you very much! I’m glad to hear that.
When I tried to visit your profile, I’m said: You Must Be Friends In Order To Access This Profile. How? I want to be friends but don’t know how to do that.
I will open it in like a week or two. I made it private after dealing with a stalker who kept harassing me. I tried to block them, but Virily’s block system didn’t actually them from visiting my page. They were still commenting on my profile, so I changed my account privacy settings to that.
I’m looking forward to see your posts. I would like you tell me when you do so.
Pitam se što određuje kako se stari članci prikazuju u trendu?
Haha, but why don’t you speak English? Where are you from?
Thank you for this very informative post about Black Friday. Now I really know what it is all about!
Thank you for reading and commenting! I’m glad you like it.
Thanks for theories but Friday is most bright and bless day for me.
Yes, I know but that is America .
I do not make purchases on Black Friday, is too crowded
Yes, that’s true but it’s much cheaper then.
I’ve learnt a lot, thank you! I hate crowds so try to avoid this big sales event. You see, if they had called it other colour than black… I love more positives titles. Shopping is an exciting thing for me and I cannot put together “black” and “shopping”.
I agree with you. I also can’t match “black” and “shopping”. I’m glad you like this post and you’ve learnt a lot. Thank you very much for reading and commenting it!
Thank you so much for sharing these facts about Black Friday, very curious!!!
Thank you for reading and commenting, dear!
This is an interesting post. I did not know that. I was in the shop today. I bought a lot of things. It’s enough for this year. The next shopping in January … hah.
haha..Are you sure-in January? 🙂 Thank you very much! I’m glad you like it.
In January, all merchants drop prices. Then the New Year, and Christmas, has a lot of action similar to Black Friday.
That’s why I asked you-are you sure that you’re finished with shopping till January 🙂
I’m not ..hah…. I’m having a Black Friday every month.
Apparently, there are some interesting possibilities that become the background of Black Friday. Very interesting, Milena.
About shopping, I think my family does it according to conditions and situations.
Yes, there are. Thank you very much, Albert!
Yup. Pleasure is mine, Milena.
You are so kind with your comments, Albert! 🙂
Thank you, Milena, I am honored by your appreciation.
We do not celebrate this holiday, although there are more and more advertisements for black Friday purchases
Maybe it would be good to buy something on that day.
With us, discounts were as high as 50%-It’s probably worth buying
Yes, it certainly is. Did you buy something?
I did not buy anything-I saw in advertisements coming home
Thanks for the sharing the history lesson on how Black Friday begins. At least the Black color has a positive for profits in companies.
You’re welcome! I’m glad you like it.
My pleasure to read your blog.
Thank you very much! You are so kind!
I try to be a light in the darkness.

I also like to go for shopping when there is no any crowd.
Online shopping works for me.
