Most of the responses from yesterday about responding to someone online was to walk away from conflict. I do agree with that, and I do try to ignore the comments. When a person responds to my posts that I find rude, I tend to ignore them. Sometimes, I will engage when they go too far. The other thing that bothers me is when that person engages with my comments on other authors posts. I would expand the conversation a little based on that. How far is a bridge too far for the community? Is it a person going after you? That was the line I drew yesterday, and the vast majority of you said the best thing for that was to walk away or disengage.
What about a person who comments on your comments for other authors is that too far?
One of the things that Mr. Ledande has brought up is the reality of the FAQ for Virily. It was an ask in our update to the Admin team (I updated the ask to include Carol’s recent SPAM comment post). But the problem we have is that the FAQ’s right list things that have not been the case for in some cases more than two years. Two years ago, there was an issue with credit given for Drafts. A few users rocketed the total number of Virils they had taking advantage of that bug in the system. If you save someone to your drafts more than once (I don’t know how many times you have to save before you get this) you will get a message that says “trying to cheat>” You used to get 30 points for each draft to save. Some users saved their drafts 100 or more times before publishing.
You don’t get credit (double, triple and more) for saving to drafts anymore.
We don’t get credit for guest views (we did) as well. A guest view is a non-Virily user that responds to a shared link. There is both a limit listed in the FAQ as well as a full description of how to earn Virils you can’t get anymore. You do still get credit if someone that you send links to, registers for a Virily account, but only views posts from external links.
Fixing the FAQ’s and making two sections would be interesting, I think. Section one, So you are new to Virily? Focus that section on how to be a good author on the site. Then the rules of the road or rules of engagement for those of us that have been on the site for a while, and for the new users to read after they read so you are new here!

I agree. Some of the FAQs are really outdated, so Virily might update them a bit. I have to admit that I don’t know how to react with offensive comments (although I try to calm things down). So far I have not had such a case.
sadly i have hit one or two users here that chased me on the site. I ignore them but it can be frustrating.
I tend to dislike conflicts but some how I try to make peace if I can. It isn’t always easy…
It is really hard sometimes. People get angry and start throwing the blame towel (you made me angry)!
Yes, so true, I grew up with a lot of conflicts and prefer peace. Peace comes in relationships when people learn patience with each other. I have often helped sick people and patience there really is a virtue…
my parents always taught me to forgive but be aware. My grandfather taught me to limit the forgive if the person continues to do the same thing over and over.
I find that even though I have been on a site for quite a long time changes come along and I find I have new questions about certain things so it would be good to be able to look them up.
It would be! Alex brought up that the FAQ’s were very outdated.
I am here to have fun and meet new and above all good and kind people and I have to admit that I have no problems ….. but I agree with all your suggestions, my friend

I was inactive for about 10 months – and things changed. When I came back I tried to use the FAQ section, etc… (I relooked at everything like when I signed up) because things had changed – The confusion about things is unfortunate. —– I am just realizing that maybe the payment system has also changed. The confusion is really a problem I think. Especially for new people. If the FAQ is insufficient or erroneous that doesn’t help. In fact, it exacerbates the problems.
As to problems with other users, I haven’t seen this here too much. If I was a problem to anyone I would like them to tell me and I would do whatever was necessary to remedy that. Most people are probably the same. If not, reporting is not so unthinkable a thing to do.
My biggest issue here is ** lack of clarity ** – for sure. (and that is not meant to be a criticism)

Sounds like you are having problems with other members again. Thankfully the problem I had disappeared. Thankfully. I hope yours does as well. I will say it again, you have to walk away.

Yes I would like an expanded FAQ section for sure. We all need many questions answered.
Actually no problems, I am trying to move our community forward so we don’t have those issues, again!

I, too, have commented on the author’s comment to another persont just because it was interesting or I had something to add. Is that what you are talking about?
Let’s say you ask the question of how do I do this on Virily.
I answer that question
someone else than comments on my answer and says
This author is mean to me.
If you comment on others writings and the way you comment always is kind, then continue by all means!

I need to go read all the rules. I may have been doing things I should not. I was under the impression that you could comment on anything, but apparently that is wrong. I need to sit down with my son and try again.

you can comment on anything! The issue is the rules are out of date and haven’t been updated in a long time!
I like the idea of a new section on consumer issues. Hopefully, at least there (if you create such a section) our questions will be answered. And there are too many questions.I such annoying people ignore them at the moment. I’m here to have fun. I can’t stand the tension and negativity.

There are all sorts of people in this world and what you are going through is not uncommon. I have gone through this at another site where if a user disagreed with me that users gang would come and post – countless nasty posts. But to my good fortune they have all disappeared. Today there is peace there and also I do not bother any more.
The best form of insult is to ignore – just ignore.
