What Does the Christmas Spirit Have to Teach Us?

In our lives we try to struggle to find inner peace, we regret the mistakes of the past, we struggle with our weaknesses and we worry about the future. We seek an endless spiral to find our purpose in life through employment, relationship, and leisure. And while we have the best of intentions, we feel we need a superhuman effort to make this world a better place.

As December approaches, we remember that there is still hope: it is Christmas, and so it is a time of fellowship, a time of union, a time of love. Among gifts, decorations and cooking, there is something that is virtually guaranteed: one way or another, we will be reuniting with the family.

At this jubilant Christmas time, how about we make peace with that family member we discussed? How about a sincere apology to that friend we are bored with? How about forgiveness as a clear and absolute answer?

The festive season is the ideal opportunity for reconciliation to take place, the ideal opportunity to celebrate life and to be grateful for the path we take here. It is time to overcome the differences between ourselves and those around us and to restore peace in our interpersonal relationships.

Many times we get frustrated and annoyed by the mistakes of others. It is true that we cannot control the attitude of other people, but it is also true that we are deliberately responsible for our own. Take an active stand against resentment and follow the path of humility.

There are things we dream of being able to do someday and there are things we wish we could forget. But what would your life be like if you could now start over? A blank page – no blame, no regret, no bitterness. Think about it, and live the present.
